Peniel Argaw

Hello! I am currently at Microsoft Research, working on ML for cancer.

Previously, I was a PhD candidate at Harvard University advised by Prof. Isaac Kohane.

My PhD research focused on utilizing unsupervised partitioning methods to identify clinically meaningful subgroups. In particular, I worked on

1. Identifying robust subgroups with optimized variance
2. Assessing stability and generalizability of clustering algorithms across varying domains
3. Evaluating the factors of heterogeneity in a population, to motivate for the advancement of personalized preventative and treatment strategies

And before that, I received my master’s degree from MIT in Computer Science where I was advised by Dr. Leo Celi, and I received my bachelor’s degree from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
